Application | Land use application

Overview

This application is for individuals or organisations seeking a permit to carry out activities that may affect the water environment. This includes, but is not limited to, discharges to surface water or groundwater, water abstraction, impoundment, and works in, over, under or near a watercourse.

The purpose of the permitting process is to ensure that all proposed activities comply with the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations and other relevant legislation, protect water quality, and minimise impacts on the environment and local communities.

Applicants are required to provide accurate and complete information to support a risk-based assessment of their proposal. Applications that are incomplete or do not meet the required standards may be rejected as invalid.

All duly made applications will be assessed by the regulator. Applicants will be notified of the outcome within the relevant statutory determination period, which may vary depending on the type and complexity of the activity.
